Computing power donated to good causes at Amelix

You will often here the phrase ‘A business that makes just money, is a poor business’ used here at the Amelix Group, it is a saying we use a lot and keep central to all we do as a group of companies. We are constantly look for ways we can contribute to the communities we serve and wider global community.

Today we are pleased to announce our commitment to donate computing power to The World Community Grid – The programme donates spare computing cycles to provide scientists with critical information that accelerates the pace of research into treatment and cure’s for Cancer, AIDS, Muscular Dystrophy and the Fight Against Ebola and Malaria.

When idle, our computers and servers request data on a specific project from World Community Grid’s server. It then does some crunching on this data, sends the results back to the server, and asks the server for a new piece of work. Each time our systems send back data provides scientists with faster processing of complex research and speeds up their work.

The technology is also more cost-effective, enabling better use of critical funds, overnight we dedicate even more computing power to the grid.
