We told you a few weeks ago that we had exchanged contracts on our new building, well a few days ago our boss collected the keys and we have spent last week or so loading vans and moving all we own into our new home.
Firstly we would like to appologise, whilst we have had numerous planning meetings to try and cause the least amount of distruption, we have timed the move to fall over the Christmas break (Some would say we are mad) because it is our quietest period and should cause the least amount of distruption to our business but we know over the last couple of days we have not been as quick at responding to emails.
So whats changing?
To be honest not a lot, all being well our telephone numbers will remain the same (if you call us on our main 0844 numbers) – If you dial in to an 01227 number these will change and we will publish these numbers over the next few weeks.
Our email addresses remain the same and thier should be minimal downtime but as our various teams move we may not get emails answered straight away.
In the meantime we would be grateful if you could update your records with our new address which is Amelix Group, 67 John Wilson Business Park, Whitstable, Kent CT5 3QT
We’ve learnt over the last few weeks that moving offices is so much more complicated than house moving so please bare with us as we get things in place and then if you are ever in the area please make sure you pop in for a cuppa!

Here at Amelix UK, instead of sending Christmas cards we have decided to make a donation to two of our favourite charites; Cancer Research UK and Shelter UK. We decided that a donation of what we would have spent on design, print and postage would be put to better use by good causes, and as a bonus it will also help reduce our Carbon footprint.
We will also be holding a series of post Christmas / new year events at our new offices in Whitstable in Kent that we would like to invite you to so keep an eye out in your inbox for more details.
2011 has been an amazing year for the Amelix team and we have seen huge growth across our business. 2012 looks to be even more exciting as we get set to move into our new home and lauch several new exciting projects and services. We know this growth wouldn’t have been possible without all the lovely people we have the privalage of working with day in day out, from our clients to suppliers and everyone else in between! All the team at Amelix would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Amelix Director Louis Hurst said “We are delighted to have taken our award winning school tour concept to Yorkshire to promote such a good key message. I am confident that our interactive roadshow will have made young people think again about how they use the road.”
The show itself is an exciting sound and light experience which consists of a mix of interactive games, dance, music, and information which is simultaneously educational, informative and lots of fun for all involved.
Susan Walker Sustainable Education Travel Coordinator for Leeds Concil said ”We have been talking to Amelix for sometime now about how we can engage with young people in positive way and we are confident the One Road Many Users Tour will deliver our key messages in a credible yet informative way.”
Throughout the show young people are encouraged to think about all aspects of using the road and effects on the environment through subliminal learning.
The roadshows visited schools in several local authority areas across West Yorkshire as well as schools in Sheffield and was hosted by former Disney Channel presenter James Sherwood. The roadshow featured performances from the up and coming pop group NVS, who are currently supporting the Saturdays on their UK tour as well as a few performances from Adams Girlfriend a new singer/songwriter.

Although the contracts have only just been exchanged we are already getting very excited about our office move.
So why are we doing it? Well we have out grown our base in Canterbury and have been on the hunt for bigger premises for the last few months. We are also expanding rapidly and have lots of exciting new projects on the horizon which will mean us taking on even more Amelix people and requiring more warehouse space.
We will also be sharing the space with some strategic partners and over the coming weeks we will announce who will be sharing the new Amelix House with us. These partners are working on projects with us and will be intergrting thier services to help deliver a couple of exciting new Amelix projects over the coming months.
So where are we going? Not that far actually, we are planning on moving to the John Wilson Business Park in Whitstable. The park is only 10 mins from where we are at the moment but gives good accsess to the M2 as it is just off the old Thanet Way and trains from London stop at Chestfield and Swalecliffe station and Whitstable Station is only 10 mins away.
What will change? We are hoping not a lot, we are currently having meeting after meeting to try and work out the best way to move without causing any of our customers any interuption to service. Our 08 Telephone numbers will not change but some of our other numbers will and we will let you know these as soon as we have them.
Our address will also change all post from early 2012 will be Amelx House, 67 John Wilson Business Park, Whitstable, Kent CT5 3QT.
Our email and internal company network will also need to go offline for 6 – 8 hours which will mean our people wont have accsess to email but we will let you know dates and publish alternative contact numbers for that period.
Our plan at the moment is to be working from the new office from January 3rd 2012, however with all these things dates may change so we will keep you updated on dates as we get them!

Amelix is becoming well known in the Youth Engagement sector for creative, interactive and engaging projects. Our reputation is spreading across the Atlantic and delegates from our award winning youth engagement team have been asked to attend conferences in Chicago and Los Angeles with a view to piloting some of our projects to young people in the US.
Amelix Founding Director Louis Hurst said “I am delighted that our work with young people has not only been recognised in the UK but word is spreading across the world and can’t wait to see what opportunities lie across the pond. We have already had a lot of exciting conversations and it is now a matter of trying to tweak our current portfolio of products to suit the American Market”
Jerry Fuller an advisor to the American Education department said “Looking at some of the projects and outcomes Amelix has had on the young people in the UK, I am very excited at trialing some of the concepts and ideas in America. We share a lot of the same challenges when it comes to engaging young people and I look forward to welcoming Louis and his team early next year.”
It is hoped the first Amelix Youth Projects will roll out in America during the summer / fall (Autumn) of 2012.

On Thursday 17th November 2011 Amelix Telecom sent some of its team down to the Canterbury Christmas Light switch on in the centre of the city with big purple collecting buckets to raise money for BBC’s Children In Need appeal. Our Happy Connections Team, who usually visit businesses helping them save money on thier telephone bills, turned thier hands to shaking buckets as the crowds gathered for the City’s Christmas Switch On Event.
Amelix sister company Amelix Events staged the switch on event for Canterbury City Council, and also co-sponsored the activity with Roper Place Canterbury’s new interior design quarter.
In total the Amelix Telecom team raised over £250 for Children In Need from collecting in the High Street. Louis Hurst founding Director of the Amelix group has also pledged to donate all profits made on Friday 18th November 2011 from its Telecom business to the cause so every Amelix Telecom customer that uses thier phone today will be helping Children In Need.
Louis Hurst added “Amelix as an organisation is passionate about the people we serve across the UK through the events we manage and organise, or those hundreds of people who rely on us for their telecom services. The Canterbury event was our way of saying thank you to to the people of Canterbury and also raising money for a fantastic cause, Children In Need. As a business we are committed to helping young people and this is just another way we can help improve lives and raise some money for a great cause!”
More information on Children in Need can be found here www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey

Canterbury City Council and Amelix Events are delighted to announce that Roper Place, Canterbury’s Interior Design Quarter are going to be sponsoring the Canterbury Christmas celebrations alongside Amelix Event’s sister company Amelix Telecom.
Amelix was commissioned by Canterbury City Council to organise and manage the switch on event which will take place in St George’s Street on Thursday 17 November earlier this year with a brief not only to stage and assist with the production but also look at additional partners to help fund the event.
Roper Place is Canterbury’s Interior Design Quarter which is tucked away in the historic St Dunstans area of the city. The area is full of interior design businesses offering a unique mix of style and choice with high end brands and bespoke fittings. Companies such as Heat Design, Clarks, Lenleys, Hillside Interiors, Instyle Kitchens and Graham bathrooms and showers make Roper Place the place to visit when improving your home.
Caroline Hicks, Canterbury City Council’s Local Economy Manager said “We are delighted the Roper Place consortium have decided to be involved in the City’s Christmas celebration, Canterbury is a great place to come and do business and it is fantastic that businesses from across the City are supporting the Christmas events for the residents and visitors of Canterbury.”
Trish Worthy Hillside Interiors said “All the businesses in Roper Place are passionate about serving the people of Canterbury and look forward to welcoming many more visitors into the numerous businesses that make Roper Place so special and unique this Christmas”
In addition to sponsorship from Roper Place, Amelix Telecom, (sister company to Amelix Events) has also agreed to sponsor some of the activity on the day. Group Director Louis Hurst said “As a business we do so much work outside of Kent it is fantastic to be working alongside Canterbury City Council’ and Roper Place to give something back to the people of Canterbury, our Telecom business serves the business community and this is a nice way to give something back from us”
The event begins at around 3pm with an exclusive performance from up and coming pop group NVS as well as a rock choir giving their own take on some Christmas favourites. The lights will be switched on at 5.30pm by cast members from Cinderella at The Marlowe Theatre.
Further details of the event will be published on the Canterbury tourism website during the next few weeks.

More and more customers are calling the Amelix Telecom Domain help desk asking about letters they have received from companies they have never heard of requesting them to renew their domains.
In most instances this domain name renewal deception can work in one of two ways. You might be sent an invoice or a letter for a domain name that is very similar to your current domain name – the sender hopes that you don’t notice the difference and just pay the invoice. Or you’re sent an invoice for your actual domain name(s) but it’s not from your domain registrar.
A common example of this is the Domain Renewal Group and is probrably the company we get the most enquires about in the Amelix Telecom office – thier letters often come with a logo that looks like this.
The Domain Registry of America is an Internet domain registrar based in the Canadian province of Ontario best known for sending solicitations for business that resemble legitimate invoices. They send letters (not emails) to legitimate domain owners suggesting that your domain name is nearing expiry and you should re-register the domain name with them for a fee.
This company also goes by the name of Domain Registry of America and Liberty Names of America. There are lots of other letters legitmate domain owners will receive on a weekly basis.
Another company we are recieivng an increasing number of enquires about is Domain Registry of America (DROA).
DROA serves as a reseller of domain name registration services for eNom, Inc. (“eNom”), an ICANN-accredited registrar of second level domain names. In the course of offering domain name services, DRoA has engaged in a direct mail marketing campaign aimed at soliciting consumers to transfer their domain name registrations from their current registrar to eNom through DROA.
The prices for domain registration via DROA can be as much as 10x as high as other legitimate domain registration sites and we would always suggest contacting your current domain registrar before sitching..
We have heard some horror stories in recent weeks from customers that have switched to DROA and found it almost impossible to move/transfer your domain away without significant problems or indeed some ludicrous costs.
The deception is not just limited to the post another common form of scamming regarding domain registrations comes via email. You receive an email saying something along the lines of:
‘A client of ours wants to register a domain, we have checked and found that you own yourdomainname.co.uk. We would like to give you the opportunity of purchasing these domains’.
The list of domains have different extensions to your domain e.g. if you own .co.uk, .com the listed domains may have .asia, .cn, .com.cn, .com.hk, .com.tw, .hk, .in, .net.cn, .org.cn, .tw.
Unless you actually want these domain extensions or have any use for them, ignore these type of emails. If you do want these extensions apply for them through a recognised domain registrar.
Some other useful tips when registering domains.
If you are not sure what domains you need or would like some honest advice don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and call the Amelix Telecom team on 0844 801 99 55 or email telecoms@amelix.co.uk
